"I would hope that I could just keep it between me, my rat bastahd husband (in this scenario) and our kids."

That's exactly the high road I'm talking about, particularly since these are both women who consistently depict themselves first and foremost as good mothers trying to create a solid legacy for their children. Somehow, "bitter tell-all" falls pretty far outside that paradigm. There are so many down-sides it vastly outweighs any immediate gratifications. . . First, it reopens a wound that exposes their kids to even more schoolyard taunting. Second, it further damages the parental relationship in a very public way in a manner that inevitably seeps into their private parenting life. Third, no matter how much anger and resentment they might have right now, time is on their side: it's not too many years before their kids see Daddy for the jackass he was anyway.

Worst? Be careful how nasty you are about Daddy's mistress. If you remember, both Rielle Hunter and (thus far) Sanford's mistress were paragons of silence, refusing to speak to the press and disappearing into the shadows as soon as the news became public. Until, that is, Elizabeth went on her book tour and started calling her a crazy stalker. . . By the end of the tour's first week, Hunter's attorneys had demanded a DNA test from John Edwards; what could have merely subsided from her life has now, as a direct result of her having composed those angry words, now come full circle to become her nightmare realized. . .

Oh, and I didn't mean Jenny's book as fiction -- I meant it as memoir, only a little further down the road, once the dust has settled and she really has something to write about overcoming adversity and rescuing herself and her family (even if that just ends up being her and her sons) from this current steaming shitpile. ;-)

Well, your potential in-laws did hyphenate your name. That counts for somethin', right?

Hmm, Liz and Jen. That's a bitter pill to swallow -- the affairs. And it sucks being in the spotlight. I suppose the fame and or notoriety that comes with public office should be warning enough.

But I'd definitely say that each woman feels she must say her piece whether it looks saavy and sophisticated or not. I suppose it's about what other people think, honestly.

They (L&J) both know more of the story and again they must feel they have to voice their side of things. Because they don't want the story to go down without their input.

Right?

Wrong?

Don't know. I also don't know if I could take the high road if I were either one of them. I would hope that I could just keep it between me, my rat bastahd husband (in this scenario) and our kids.

But you did present an interesting concept for a work of fiction.
